MAUREEN TREFETHREN, MS, LPCC, NCC

Prior to returning to school for a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling, I worked in emergency medicine for 15 years, two years in the ER, and 13 years as a paramedic. My time in the field underscored a love of working with patients struggling with mental health issues. I volunteered with the Center for Victims of Torture, local domestic violence groups and continued additional training to better as an ally with LGBTQIA groups, green space therapy, and guided meditation. Additionally, I obtained training and experience working with early childhood trauma, family systems, PTSD, and addiction issues.

My combined experience in medicine and mental health has informed my approach to care in holistic and empowering ways. I am a firm believer my clients are their own best experts and my job is to walk with them through this process to wellness. I also believe in educational and insight-based approaches and am an integrative therapist who will tailor the approach to your own unique needs and strengths. I am excited to meet with individuals, couples, children, and families. Given my unique background, I also welcome clients from emergency, military, or medical backgrounds as it is a common struggle to find a therapist who understands the ins and outs of these complex fields.
